From Tulsa Criminal Attorney - Glen R. Graham: One thing you should always consider, is that you might want to explain to the officer that you have an appointment, and ask him if you are "free to leave." If you are not free to leave, then you are in custody, and you should be read Miranda warnings before questioning by the officer. Always explain that you are late and ask if you are free to leave. This traps the officer into making a mistake by not reading you your rights. Do not volunteer any information. Always request an attorney in response to a question by the officer. If you request an attorney, he is supposed to cease questioning you. I explain these at my site: Tulsa Criminal Attorney http://www.glenrgraham.com which goes to my blog http://www.oklahomacriminaldefense.blogspot.com By Glen R. Graham, Tulsa Criminal Lawyer, Tulsa, Oklahoma
